  21.   AudioNexus must be installed on a hard drive.  Do not attempt to install
  22.   to, or run the program on, a floppy drive.

  24.   To install, type:

  26.                  A:INSTALL <Enter>     or     B:INSTALL <Enter>

  28.   There must be about 1.2MB of free space available on the target hard
  29.   drive or the install process will be incomplete, with indication of an
  30.   error and an exit to DOS.  The source drive (containing install.exe) must
  31.   be different from the target drive.  After installation, the program uses
  32.   about 620k of space.  The install process will create a directory on the
  33.   destination drive, the default selection being  \AUDIONX.  The install
  34.   process does NOT modify your path, autoexec.bat, or config.sys.

  56.   For an alternative installation, copy the self-extracting file __0010.EXE
  57.   to a directory and simply execute that file.   __0010.EXE may then be
  58.   deleted from the directory.  Use of INSTALL.EXE provides verification
  59.   along with installation and provides opportunity to print the documentation
  60.   (about 18 pages).

  88. WINDOWS 3.1 and WINDOWS 95 SETUP

  91. Q. How may I add this program to my Windows environment?
  92.  
  93. A. Windows 3.1:
  94.    ------------
  95.    To set up this application to run from Windows(R) 3.1 Program Manager,
  96.    first install the program normally from DOS or within a full DOS window.
  97.  
  98.    Next, make the desired Program Group in which you wish to place this
  99.    program the current group (that is, click on the Title Bar of the group
  100.    to highlight it as the current one).
  101.  
  102.    From the File Menu, select New.  Then select Program Item.  Choose OK.
  103.    Type in "AudioNexus" as the Description line.  For the Command Line,
  104.    enter the drive, directory, and name of the executable filename; i.e.,
  105.  
  106.             C:\AUDIONX\AUDIONX.EXE
  107.  
  108.    if you have installed to the C: drive and in the default directory name
  109.    suggested by the Installation program.
  110.  
  111.    For the Working Directory, indicate the above directory:
  112.  
  113.             C:\AUDIONX
  114.  
  115.  
  116.    You may skip the Shortcut Key designation and the Run Minimized check box.
  117.  
  118.    In the Program Item Properties box, click on OK.
  119.  
  120.    The Program Group item for the application will be created.  To launch the
  121.    program from Windows, you need only double-click on the resulting default
  122.    icon for the program.
  123.  
  124.    Make sure you are running this program in a full MS-DOS screen; it will
  125.    not run in an MS-DOS window.  This setting is made in your _DEFAULT.PIF
  126.    file (in the Windows directory) with the PIF File Editor.  To start the
  127.    PIF Editor, open the Main program group and double-click on the PIF Editor
  128.    icon.  When the PIF Editor window is open, select the File menu, then Open.
  129.    Choose the _DEFAULT.PIF file in the Windows directory.  Click on OK to open  the
  130.    file in the Editor.  Select Full Screen under Display Usage if it is not
  131.    already selected.  Click on the check box for Close Window on Exit to place
  132.    an X in that box if it does not yet contain one.  Generally, you may leave
  133.    the Video Memory setting set on Text and all other settings are left alone
  134.    as they originally appeared.  Click on the File menu, then select Save.
  135.    You may then close out the PIF Editor.  (Please note that the Display Usage
  136.    setting is only applicable in 386 Enhanced mode and the instructions in
  137.    this paragraph are only applicable to Windows 3.1.)

  141.    Windows 95:
  142.    -----------
  143.    This program has been fully tested by RCCO Research to run under Windows
  144.    95.   Many users will note immediate benefits in terms of the program's
  145.    execution speed and smoothness of the video screens, particularly if you
  146.    are running Windows 95 on a Pentium (or 80486) system.
  147.  
  148.    To set up the application to run in Windows 95, first install the program
  149.    normally from a full MS-DOS screen.   (See the Readme.txt file for
  150.    instructions in running Install.exe from MS-DOS.)  You must observe MS-DOS
  151.    filenaming conventions when naming a directory (folder) in which the
  152.    program will be installed (most users will accept the suggested default,
  153.    C:\AUDIONX); that is, the folder name must be eight characters or less
  154.    with no spaces or other characters not allowable under traditional
  155.    MS-DOS naming conventions.  When reading the program's online documenta-
  156.    tion, you may wish to mentally substitute the word "folder" whenever
  157.    "directory" is mentioned.

  159.    In Windows 95, to add this program to your Start Menu:
  160.      1. Click on Start.
  161.      2. Move the mouse pointer up to Settings.
  162.      3. Click on Taskbar...
  163.      4. Select the 'Start Menu Programs' tab.
  164.      5. Click on Add.
  165.      6. Click on Browse, then navigate to the application's executable
  166.          file, AUDIONX.EXE, by first double-clicking to the folder or
  167.          sub-folder in which it exists.  Select AUDIONX.EXE.  Click on Open.
  168.      7. Now the Command line shows the path to the application's
  169.          executable file.  Click on Next.
  170.      8. Choose a folder in which the shortcut to the program will
  171.          appear (or select New Folder if one is desired).
  172.      9. Click on Next.
  173.     10. At the prompt 'Select a name for the shortcut,' type in
  174.          "AudioNexus."
  175.     11. Click on Finish.  This returns you to the Taskbar Properties window.
  176.     12. Under the Advanced Settings you will have to specify that this
  177.          program is to run in a FULL MS-DOS SCREEN.  This program will
  178.          not run in an MS-DOS window.

  180.          Advanced Settings (on the Taskbar Properties window):
  181.          A. Click on Advanced.
  182.          B. Click on the plus sign (+) to open the Programs folder.
  183.          C. Click on the folder containing the new shortcut to
  184.               the program.
  185.          D. RIGHT-click on the shortcut itself.  Select Properties.
  186.               Click on the Program tab, then click on the "Close on exit"
  187.               box to place a check mark there.  Next, click on the Screen
  188.               tab.  Click on Full-Screen under Usage.  Click on Apply at
